Marti Cuevas founded Mayimba Music in 1999. Having moved to the Big Apple a decade prior with her saxophone and a quest for musical growth, the realities of two young children in tow led Marti in search of a “straight job.” First landing in the offices of legendary music attorney, William Krasilovsky, Marti went on to helm J & N Publishing/J & N Records Business Affairs department, work with legendary artists such as Aventura, Romeo Santos, and ultimately, develop Mayimba Music.
While witnessing the seismic changes in the mysterious and unpredictable music industry, Marti’s love of the music business, copyright law and the magic of songwriting has not dimmed. Music is Mayimba’s DNA. At present, Marti sits on the Board of Directors at the NMPA and ASCAP.

José “Fefo” Mendez
In his nearly three-decade long career, there are few areas of the music business José “Fefo” Mendez has not touched upon. The son of a legendary radio personality, Fefo can’t remember a time without music being an integral part of life’s daily rhythm. Beginning his professional career in the 1990’s focusing on sales and promotions, Mendez has continuously expanded his skillset — notably adding considerable publishing experience to his resume. Whatever needs doing at Mayimba, chances are Fefo can “take care of it!”
